Simple Repairs to Sell Faster
If you are thinking of putting your home up for sale, it’s important that your house is in great shape. A house that looks old, outdated, or needs repairs doesn’t sell very quick. Here are some simple tasks that you can do to freshen up your home and make it sell faster.
1. Curb Appeal
Your curb appeal can make or break a sale very quickly. If a potential buyer thinks the outside of the home looks bad they will most likely not even think about your home. Make sure the outside of the house is in great shape, and add some flowers, shrubs, or decorations to make it even more appealing.
2. Inspect your Kitchen and Baths
Make sure you have looked at all the details in your kitchen and bathrooms. Check that all hardware is in great condition and doesn’t look old or outdated. If the hardware does need to be replaced, this is an easy fix. Check the caulking around all windows, doors, backsplashes, tubs, and toilets. It’s not a bad idea to go ahead and replace the caulking just to be on the safe side. You can find everything you need at your local hardware store.
3. Check Your Paint
If the paint in your house has stains, dirt, or just looks bad, you should go ahead and add new paint wherever it’s needed. Always go with light and neutral colors to help brighten up rooms that might look dark and closed off. This also ensures that everyone will be okay with the paint color. Using a bright and bold paint color is a bad idea because not everyone is going to like it.
4. Check Your Flooring
No matter what type of flooring you have, you should make sure everything looks pristine and clean. Carpets should have a professional cleaning to get rid of all stains, dust, and pet dander if you have pets in the home. Hardwood flooring needs to be thoroughly cleaned as well, and check the grout in between any tiles. If any flooring is cracked, you need to replace it altogether.
5. Inspect Windows and Doors
Take a good look at your windows and doors. Make sure they all function correctly and don’t catch or hang up in any places. Make sure all windows and doors lock and if the hardware is outdated on your doors, go ahead and replace it.
