What to Look for in a Pet-Friendly Home?

by Realty Momentum

When you are buying a home where you can live in peace and comfort with your furry friend, things are not as easy as you think. While we have discussed College Station’s most pet-friendly neighborhoods, bear in mind that not all homes in those areas will be suitable for your needs. You have to be more vigilant about the features and amenities of the specific property you are interested in.

Over the years, we have learned that there are certain factors that make sure that home buying experience is the most satisfactory for pet-owners. If you are looking for a home to buy, here are a few things you should look for.

  • A Good Lawn with a Fence – If you are buying a home rather than an apartment, make sure it has a green enough lawn where your pet can enjoy most of his time. It is good for their mental and physical health. The fence is for their safety and security and if the home doesn’t already have one, check if you are allowed to build one.
  • Resilient Walls and Flooring – You don’t want your dog or cat ruining the immaculate softwood floorings or walls. While they may look great, they aren’t really pet-friendly. Make sure the wall and floorings are made of material that can endure playful clawing and scratches.
  • Doggie Doors – Equally usable by cats, doggie door should actually be the first and only sign you need to know the home is good for your pet’s wellbeing.
