How the Current Political Scenario Is Changing the Real Estate Landscape
If you didn’t already know, 2015 was the best year for the real estate market, at least for this decade. Things were only expected to improve. The current political scenario, the strong uncertainty and lack of public trust in any of the candidates, has led many people to believe that things might take a downturn though. Contrary to that perception, things seem to be going in a positive direction.
The demand for housing is still strong, and this demand is actually calling for some serious action from the politicians. No matter who wins, there are likely to be some positive changes in the housing market which will lead to even better performances.
The interesting part is that the changes expected are not just in term of supply. The supply, for now, is enough to meet the demand. The area where the changes are actually required and predicted is affordability. Americans want houses, and they want to be able to afford the house they want. Current stats reveal that 11 million Americans are paying more than half of their monthly income in mortgages. In a poll, 75 percent of the voters said they would like the officials to make affordable housing their foremost priority. Nearly 50 percent said they would vote for the candidate with a proper plan for affordable housing.
With that said, be ready to see some serious housing strategies and plans coming from all the major candidates now. Who do you think will be able to do the best for housing market? Share your thoughts with us!
